I don't know about you but around here, trash day, is the day when I scramble around the kitchen to toss in the smelly leftovers, check the wastebaskets in the bathrooms, toss Ted's over- chewed ratty doggy toys, and do a quick inventory of the garage ~ searching for anything that's truly "trash" (that can't be salvaged or made into something else)... I am a creative after all. ;) It feels satisfying when the refrigerator is clean, the house is free of stinky dog toys, ahh, our home is primed for a fresh start.
The Lord can speak to us in many ways, yes, even when you're taking out the trash.
The question was brought to my mind, what else could I throw away, spiritually speaking?Hmmm... well this made me think. There might be a heavy can of fear (what if), possibly a smelly bag of insecurity (I just can't)..., a soggy box of comparison (why can't I)... and the list could go on. All junk and if that sticks around, it will stink. We have to get rid of it and give it to Him. Our Pastor calls our alter at church, the trash dump. Christ is able to receive what we cannot carry, what we shouldn't carry. Once those are given up, the burden becomes light friends.
"For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:30
Christ has a purpose for each of us. He has not designed us to carry what He can. He loves us, provides, protects, encourages, and carries us. He wants to bless you with joy that passes all understanding, security to know who we are in Him which is treasured beyond measure. Oh how He loves us! If you feel unloved today, tell Him, reach out to the Father who sees. If you feel burdened today, give it to Him. He is faithful, and you are so loved.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Hebrews 12:1
I pray today that we can throw off those things that hinder our growth in Him, and press on toward the ultimate goal of becoming more like Jesus.
Blessings to you today sweet friends,
