Change is coming!

Sometimes the best discussions are with fellow creative friends. I'll suggest an idea and they come back with 10 more. Haha, thanks guys! Yesterday, I was touching up the old gallery wall in our sitting room, patching & painting and the thought crossed my mind, I was ready for a change... haha shocker, I know.

(Not the best pictures, but I tried to show the size of this wall... 12 1/2 feet long, almost 10 feet high)

It got me thinking about all kinds of wall treatments, one in particular that I'm loving lately is removable wallpaper. Gosh, that's right up my alley. It isn't a huge commitment when you can just peel it off when you're done with it. This buffalo check paper from Target gives me all the feels. BUT, is it right for THIS wall, is it a little too busy for such a large wall? That's the question.

My friends sent in so many great ideas. I'll share some with you here and then I'd love to see what your opinion is.

One friend suggested a larger check which I thought was a good idea. Can you believe this wall was done with craft paper? (Picture: Pink Peppermint Design) What an amazing idea!

This removable wallpaper I lovvvveee is available on Etsy ...by: Wallpaperie

Another idea is to break up the wall with board & batten or possibly shiplap on the bottom half of the wall and do a wall treatment on the top half. Like this one from Better Homes and Gardens... (Except not this high, and not in the bathroom... ;) also not blue, you get the picture though. lol

Some clever designers are also painting the buffalo check on their walls, like the gals did here from Classy Clutter. So talented.

And then to throw in a whole new thought into my head, a sweet friend sent me the idea to paint the wall black, possible Annie Sloan's graphite or a muted bold black. Oh the drama that would bring to the space...

This is a nice soft black, with the added texture of the board & batten grid. Possibly a little too modern, but I like it.

The molding in this one is striking too, giving character along with the black. (Pinterest: Curated Interior)

This last picture is from Kate with @salvagedior ~ I love the way she warms up her black wall with rustic woods and textured décor elements. She is also one of the sweetest ladies on Instagram.

At the end of the day, I'm not quite sure what this wall will become. There is so much inspiration out there though. I'd love to hear from you and see what your thoughts are. This is what makes changing décor fun and I especially love hearing feedback from y'all. So let me know, leave it, add buffalo check wallpaper, board & batten, go bold with black but warm it up with rustic elements? OH the possibilities.

Have a great day friends! I look forward to hearing from you!
