He sees us

I was 18 years old, lying in a hospital bed about to be wheeled into surgery... when I remember praying, "I'm so afraid Lord, but I'm trying to trust You." Not so great faith but I did know that no matter what, He saw me and was there. I was so young and it seemed at the time that even though I had so many people, precious people, encouraging me and supporting me, I still felt so alone. But God used those feelings for me to lean upon Him. For me to draw strength from Him, for probably the first time in my life, to solely trust Him. I think He uses those difficult times in our lives, when we rely on Him, to grow our faith. Today, I carry a large scar from that surgery. A reminder now of what He brought me through and that He will never leave me even when life gets ugly. I think many of us could tell stories of our scars whether physical or those on our hearts that no one can see but Him... of those things that only He could bring us through... Oh He is such a faithful Father... and as my Father in Law would say, "Can I get an Amen?"

I can remember reading these verses that brought me comfort then and still do...

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:26

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

Matthew 10:29-31

If He cares for these, how much more for you and I? I pray today that if you're going through something and you feel all alone, that you'll cling to Jesus Christ through your fear & your anxiety, knowing that He is waiting to hold you close dear friend. He knows our human nature, full of our mixed emotions, He made us after all. But we can also ask Him to help our focus. Less on us, more on Him.

I love this song, "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" by Civilla D. Martin

Why should I feel discouraged,

Why should the shadows come,

Why should my heart be lonely,

And long for heaven and home,

When Jesus is my portion,

My constant Friend is He;

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

I sing because I'm happy,

I sing because I'm free,

For His eye is on the sparrow,

And I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,

And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;

Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,

When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,

I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Be encouraged today of His amazing love and that no matter your situation, He sees you.

Happy Thursday friends,
